Ode to Valentine's Day

Romance is like my sock—you need 2 to be effective.

It’s flawed and unraveling in places, but it brings warmth.

There is a seam at one end—the boundary of what should appropriately fit into it.

It is brightly, energetically, colored, with a unique pattern unidentifiable to some who see it.

It improves the relationship between my foot and my shoe (eliminating stink and blisters), as a romantic relationship has the potential to bring life-giving qualities to other relationships.

It can be comfy at times, other time stifling—you just want to take it off, or it feels too small, or it needs to be washed.
